Social Housing
There are currently 29 properties within the Parish of Langton Matravers which are owned by either the Purbeck Housing Trust or the Raglan Housing Association which are for rent as social housing. Out of these 29 properties, 8 are covered by a Section 106 agreement which gives priority when a vacancy arises to people with a local connection to Langton Matravers.
Local connection in this context is one of the following:-
Langton Matravers was applicant’s place of birth, place of residence of applicant’s parents at his/her time of birth or place of applicant’s main residence for a continuous period of at least five years.
The aim of the Parish Council is that any future development of social housing within Langton Matravers will also be subject to Section 106 agreements which will give priority to local people.
To be considered for any vacancy for social housing the applicant must be registered on the Purbeck District Council’s Housing register.
Shared Ownership Housing
Shared Ownership is a part buy, part rent scheme which enables first time buyers
to take their first steps onto the property ladder. The person buying the home pays
a mortgage on the share that they purchase either 40% or 50% and pays rent for the
remainder but this does not mean that they share their home with anyone else.
Raglan Housing Association currently has over 30 brand new affordable homes to buy on a
part buy part rent basis throughout the Purbeck area including Corfe Castle and

Housing Register:
Who is eligible?
Anyone over the age of 18 with insufficient resources to meet their own housing need may apply to the register for social housing. People between the ages of 16 and 18 may apply in certain circumstances. Please contact Purbeck Housing Trust for further advice.

Application forms can be obtained from Purbeck District Council, the Purbeck Housing Trust or from the Parish Clerk.
