Members of the public are welcomed at parish council meetings. These are held on the second Thursday of each month at 7:00pm, in the Langton Matravers village hall, which is in the High Street opposite the parish church.
The public may not speak at the meetings except during the period set aside for them, as announced by the chairman.
It is appreciated if the public do not talk amongst themselves during the rest of the proceedings, in order not to distract the council members and to enable everyone to hear the council's discussions clearly.
If you are interested in becoming a councillor, you must be a voter in the parish of Langton Matravers. Vacancies occur occasionally between elections, these are advertised on the parish noticeboards, or you could let the clerk know you are interested in being informed should a vacancy occur.
Elections are every 4 years, to become a candidate ask at Purbeck District Council offices for an application form as soon as an election is announced.
